Under
one year
While
the weather is clear and mild the babies normally sleep in prams in the garden.
This area is extremely secure and is checked every ten minutes by a member of
staff. A
half glassed panel divides the room. This
creates a large play area and a quiet cot room for the babies to sleep in if
they are unable to sleep outside. There
is a wide range of toys and activities. Both sensory and craft are available to stimulate and
encourage the babies in all areas of their development. The
staff will try to follow the same routine for your child as you do at home,
ensuring that the children feel safe and secure. Communication
is very important for both parents and staff. A written report is given at the
end of each day. This will record food or milk consumed, number of nappies and
sleep times. The parents can keep these as a record of their baby's time in
Nursery. All
formula milk needs to be provided by the parents and bottles need to be clearly
marked with your child's name. These will be stored in the fridge until required. One
year to two years
In
this room the day is more structured enabling the staff to accommodate all the
children’s varying degrees of development. The
children are encouraged to become more independent through learning to walk,
climb and feed themselves. A noticeable expansion of their language can be
improved through association and positive reinforcement using picture cards,
books and through songs and rhyme. After
lunch, the children are encouraged to sleep. Individual mattresses are placed on
the carpet area for each child; this is a quiet time that the children need to
recuperate their energy. Each
child has a named coat peg. On this peg is also a book which staff use to write
information about your child’s week at Nursery. As
your child reaches two years of age, we will introduce visits to the next room to
aid a successful transition. Two
years to three years
The
two to three year old room is a large area covering most of the upstairs floor. There can be up to sixteen children with four members of staff. Again,
this room is more structured giving the children the opportunity to develop to
their own full potential. All the children are able to participate in a variety
of craft and sensory activities, and educational development is aided through
structured games, role-play and educational toys, which aid their transition to
Meadow View or pre-school. Potty
training is an important stage in your child’s life and with parents and staff
working together, we should overcome any problems that occur and make this time
as stress free as possible. In
this room, each child has a tray to match the picture on their coat peg. This
tray enables the child to be independent and to go and fetch its own personal
items. Parents are asked to check this tray every day for notices or newsletters and for their child’s own work. For More Information Contact:
